NCTC concludes conference play with doubleheaders against Weatherford College on April 22nd & 25th and Vernon College on April 29th and May 1st.
In the first doubleheader at home with the lady coyotes, the lady lions dropped both games 0-3 and 3-14. Bailey Short led NCTC with 2 RBI, followed by Lyela Nieves who added an additional RBI. In the matchup at Weatherford College, the lady lions fought hard, but came up short dropping game one 3-9 and game two 0-9. Mirrando Serrato added 2 RBI to her count along with Nieves who again put up another RBI for the team.
Against Vernon College, NCTC battled through two close games, dropping game one 5-6 and game two 2-3. In game one, Abby Wollf hit a triple to earn 3 RBI for the lady lions, followed by Bailey Short with one RBI. Rylee Adams led from the mound, pitching 6 innings, facing 35 batters and earning 3 strikeouts. In game two, Cameron Stuhr earned an RBI for NCTC, while Abby Wolf and Bailey Short each put up a double. Wolf pitched through extra innings, totaling 10, facing 48 batters and earning 4 strikeouts. Facing the lady chaps again at home, the NCTC fell 2-4 and 1-6 to close out conference play.
The team finishes the year with a 21-34 overall record, including a strong presence at home with 13 wins on Darwin Field. On the road, they battled through challenges while competing in a demanding conference schedule, resulting in 10 conference wins on the season.
NCTC recognizes six sophomores who made their mark on the program, Miranda Serrato, Olivia Martin, Faith Rameriz, Montana Moore, Abriana Coy, and Emma Dalberg for their unwavering hard work and dedication they put towards lady lion softball!
