The lady lion softball team traveled to Murray State University on February 27th where the team took down Cowley County Community College in a doubleheader showdown.
In game one, the lady lions came out strong scoring two runs through the 4th inning. Cowley responded earning 1 run in the 5th, but NCTC remained in control running up the scoreboard to 4 in the 6th inning. Sophomore Olivia Martin played a big game, hitting a homer and adding 2 RBI to her count. Rylee Adams also added an RBI, hitting a double, along with Holly Mahan with another RBI for the team. Rylee Adams pitched 7 innings for the lady lions, earning 8 strikeouts and facing 26 batters.
The team carried the game one win momentum over to game two, with a final score of 6-3. With a neck-and-neck first 6 innings, the lady lions came back from a score of 1-2 in the 6th inning, to run up the score by 5 in the final 7th inning. Freshman Natalie Smith made a game-changing play for the lady lions with a double to bring up the score, and earning 3 RBI overall. Kayla Myatt, Cameron Stuhr and Konoko Gadt also each brought in an RBI to finalize the win.
