The NCTC men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Crimson & Cream Qualifier, hosted by Oklahoma University, where the athletes faced top Division I & II programs.
The NCTC men turned in a strong performance, finishing 6th overall in the team standings. Competing in a deep and talented field, the Lions demonstrated their ability to hold their own against larger programs like the University of North Texas and host program, Oklahoma University.
On the women's side, the Lions placed 12th overall, gaining solid experience in a high-level, competitive environment. The event provided an important benchmark as the team continues to develop and sharpen performances for the season ahead.
Top performances for the men include Gavin Smith and DJ Kamara who took 2nd and 3rd in the 200m. Kamara also had impressive performances in the open 400m, with a 3rd place finish. On the distance side, Henry Kibet took 3rd place in the 3000m. Jayden Young and Jaylen Dozier also had solid finishes in the 60 hurdles with Young taking 5th and Dozier 8th.
For the women, Bibi Van't Veld took 5th in the open 400m and 18th in the 200m. Amara Webb finished 12th in the 800m and 16th in the mile race. In the 3000m run, Purity Kemboi took 2nd place.
