Volleyball adds 7 Standouts to 2017 Class

With a start date just around the corner, the 2017 Women's Volleyball Team is excited to announce the new additions to the Lady Lion Squd. They will be filling the shoes of the following alumni who are continuing their careers this fall at 4 year programs: Madison Lopez (Texas Tech), Kelsey Potter (Montana Western), Hannah Altman (Texas Wesleyan), Amy Weiss (Abilene Christian), and Latrice Brown (Prairie View A&M).

Hannah Hasko 

Hannah yields from Allen, Texas where she was a part of a Varsity program and a National Champion Club Team in both her 17s and 18s campaign. She also took a trip to Puerto Rico this summer, where her team took home the Bronze medal. Her high school team was the 6-6A District Champions finishing 13-1 on the season. Hannah received the 2016 Most Spirited Player Award. 


Hattie Murray 

Hattie heads North from Krum, where she was a high school Varsity stand out, and a member of a decorated club team in her 17s and 18s years. She was a 3 year Varsity Starter and was named All District in both 2015 and 2016. She tabbed Academic All-District honors in 2014,15 and 16. She was also an Academic All-State Award recipient in 2016 with a team that finished in the regional quarter finals. Named most imporved player in both 2015 and 2016 as she continued to grow her game. In 2016 she shared her club team national championship with fellow teammate Hannah Hasko. In 2017 her club team finished 5th place at the National Tournament. 


Makenzie Buish 

Makenzie comes from Houston, with current and continuing teammate Shannon Faulkner. She too was a part of a state champion high school team, and participated in a successful club program well known throughout Texas. Her High School team, Concordia Lutheran competed in the state finals in both 2015 and 2016. She helped her team take home the gold this past 2016 season. 

Shannon Faulkner 

Shannon also arrives from Houston with teammate Makenzie Buish having shared the same club team in Houston. They competed in multiple national qualifiers throughout the nation. She was a two year captain at Atascocita High School where she also received "The Hitter" award in both 2015 and 2016. She tallied the most blocks in school history and was twice named to 1st Team All-District. 


Shelby McKight 

Shelby is a two time Varsity State Champion from Iola, Texas. She competed on Varsity all 4 years of high school. She was named most valuable server by her team in her junior and senior campaigns and has been racking up honors starting in her freshman year. Her freshman season she was an honorable mention candidate for the district, her sophomore season she advanced to second-team All-District. Her senior season, she was named to Academic First Team, All Brazos Valley Second Team, The State Volleyball All-Tournament Team, The Texas Girls Association All State Team, The Texas Girls Association Legacy All Star, and the Texas Sports Writers Association All State Team. She is also competitive in the classroom, being named 1st team Academic All-District in 2015 and 2016 as well as the Texas Girls Coaches Association All state Academic Team in 2016. 


Sierra Morrison 

Sierra heads north from the metroplex after competing with her Varsity Haltom City Team for 4 years, as well as competing nationally with her Tejas Volleyball Club team the past two years. She was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year by her high school in her senior year as well as being named Second team All-District 6A and Academic All-District. 


Taylor Thompson 

Taylor's hometown in right in our backyard as she spent 2 years with Bowie's Varsity Team and started in her senior campaign. She was named 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-County in the 2016 season. She is also a 2 year letter winner in Basketball and spent 3 seasons on the Varsity Track Team.
