Lady Lions Finish Region V Runner Up with one all-tournament selection

The Lady Lions entered the tournament as a 5th seed and battled until the championship match on Sunday. 



The 10:00am match yielded a sweep of #4 Vernon college (25-12, 25-11, 25-23). Freshman libero Bre Crain posted 12 Digs, and Sophomores Kelsey Potter, Madison Lopez, and Latrice Brown all hit marks above .333 with Freshman Kaleigh Conger chipping in 9 kills on 20 attempts at a .417 clip. 

The 4:00 match was against the number one seed in the conference, where the Lady Lions managed to push the Hill Rebels to 5 sets, falling in the fifth (25-19, 22-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-7). Sophomore Offensive Player of the Year, Latrice Brown hit a .481 mark off of Sophomore Setter Hannah Altman's season high 50 assists. 



The Lady Lions returned to action Saturday at 1:00pm to rematch Vernon and took them down in 4 (25-14, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22). Sophomore Outsides Kelsey Potter and Madison Lopez each pitched in 15 Digs, with the help of Kaleigh Conger's 10 and Breanna Crain's 13. The Lady Lion's Middles came up big for the team with Jenna Hampton hitting .500 on 24 attempts, and Latrice Brown hitting .417 on 24 attempts. 

The final match of the day was vs the number 3 seed, Temple College. The Lady Lions entered as the underdog having lost to the team twice earlier in the year. They came up with their third Victory (22-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-21). Sophomore Madison Lopez hit .243 on 37 attempts with 11 Digs, and Latrice Brown hit a clip of .348 on 23 swings. Averi Foster and Hannah Altman shared the offense with 23 assists and 17 respectively to get to the championship match. 



As the Lady Lions entered their fifth and final match, they were set to re match the number one seed they previously took to five in the same tournament. The team fell short, with scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-17. Freshman Libero Breanna Crain still managed 21 digs, 7 / set, while Sophomore Madison Lopez hit a clip of .200 on 15 swings with 6 digs. The match ended the 2016 season and placed the Lady Lions at 2nd place for the season. 


Tournament Notes 

-Sophomore Madison Lopez tabbed all-tournament honors for her consistent numbers. She tallid 4 Double Double Performances and chipped in 5 Aces for the weekend.
